Forgiving Heart
Lay It Down Before You Go
You were not made to carry that. Whatever it is you have been holding, Friday is your invitation to lay it down.
The week is almost behind you. And somewhere along the way, if you are honest, something probably happened that left a little residue on your heart. A conversation that did not go the way you hoped. A moment where someone let you down, or where you let yourself down. A frustration you have been carrying quietly since Tuesday without telling anyone about it.
Friday is not just the end of the week. It is a doorway. And before you walk through it into the weekend, there is something God is gently asking you to set down at His feet.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Ephesians 4:32 · NIVScripture quoted from the New International Version (NIV).
Forgiveness is one of the most misunderstood things in the Christian life. It is not saying that what happened was acceptable. It is not pretending the hurt did not happen. It is not even necessarily reconciliation with the person who caused the pain. Forgiveness is simply releasing your grip on something that was never yours to hold permanently. It is handing it to God and trusting Him to be the judge of it so that you do not have to be.
Is there something you are carrying that God never asked you to hold? That is the question for today. Sit with it honestly.
And do not forget to extend that same grace inward. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is ourselves. The thing we said that we wish we could take back. The choice we made that we are still regretting. God's grace covers that too. All of it. Completely and without condition.
You were not made to carry that into the weekend. Lay it down here and walk into Saturday a little lighter.
- Is there something or someone from this week I need to release before the weekend?
- Is there something I have not forgiven myself for and what would grace look like for that?
- Write a short prayer of release, giving whatever you are carrying to God by name
Lord, I am placing this at Your feet. The hurt, the frustration, the thing I have been holding onto that I was never meant to carry this long. I trust You with it. Help me to walk into this weekend with a lighter heart and an open hand. Thank You for a grace that covers everything. Amen.
With love and grace,
