Do Not withhold The Good
Do Not Withhold the Good
If you have the ability to do good today, today is the day. Someone in your path is waiting for what only you can give them right now.
There are moments when you know exactly what someone needs and you have the ability to give it and something in you hesitates. Maybe it is inconvenient. Maybe the timing is not ideal. Maybe you have told yourself you will do it later when things settle down. Proverbs 3:27 speaks directly into that hesitation with a simple and clear instruction. Do not withhold it. When it is in the power of your hand to do good, do it now.
That is the spirit of Serve Saturday. Not some future version of generosity that requires more time or more resources or a better day. The good you can do today, with what you already have, for the person already in your path. That is enough. That is the assignment.
"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so."
Proverbs 3:27 · NKJVScripture quoted from the New King James Version (NKJV).
When it is in the power of your hand. That phrase is both a permission and a responsibility. If you have the ability to help someone today, that ability is not accidental. It was placed in your hands for a reason. The encouragement you could give. The time you could offer. The resource you could share. The kindness that costs you nothing but would mean everything to the person receiving it. Do not withhold it.
The good you put off until later is often the good that never happens. Today is the right day. You already have what you need to do it.
Here are some simple ways to do good today:
Think of one good thing you have been putting off doing for someone. Do it today before the day ends.
Lord, show me today who needs what is already in my hands. Give me eyes to see the opportunity to do good and the courage not to put it off. Let me be a channel of Your generosity today in whatever way You have already equipped me for. Amen.
With love and grace,
